SIKESTON -- Jesse Brown Jr., 49, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at the Veterans Hospital in Detroit, Mich. He was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Wyatt, son of Jesse and Florence Crenshaw Brown Sr. He and Everlean Gipson were married Aug. 28, 1972. Brown attended Lincoln High School. SIKESTON -- Jesse Brown Jr., 49, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at the Veterans Hospital in Detroit, Mich.

He was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Wyatt, son of Jesse and Florence Crenshaw Brown Sr. He and Everlean Gipson were married Aug. 28, 1972.

Brown attended Lincoln High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Cody Brown with the U.S. Marine Corps in Parris Island, S.C., Brad Brown of Sikeston; three daughters, Asia Ward of Fort Leonard Wood, Erin Marks of Sikeston, and Doris Brown of Flint, Mich.

Also surviving is his mother of Wyatt; two brothers, James Brown of Wyatt, Harold Brown of Detroit; four sisters, Norma Johnson of Chicago, Cinda Mathis and Ruby Mootry of Detroit, Louise Davis of Darien, Ill.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bowden Civic Center, with the Rev. Lawrence Williams officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Mound City, Ill., at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
