SCOTT CITY -- Jesse Anderson Varnon, 80, of Scott City died Saturday, Nov. 26, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Varnon was born Dec. 12, 1913, in Commerce to Samuel and Hattie Hughes Varnon.
He married Cleone Laverne Albert in Benton on Oct. 25, 1936. She preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1979.
Varnon retired as a conductor for the Cotton Belt Railroad after 38 years of service.
He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City, local #512 of the United Trainmen's Union and the Masonic Lodge in Cape Girardeau where he was a 32nd degree Mason.
Varnon is survived by a grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City Monday from 4-9 p.m. Funeral service will be at the chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Dickey officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce.
