CHAFFEE. Jess Henry Harrell, 84, of Chaffee, departed this life on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at his home.

He was born in Brownwood, Missouri, to the late G.C. and Stella George Harrell.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from BNSF Railway in 1998. He was a member of Chaffee Elks Lodge No. 1810 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Advance, Missouri.

Jess was a jack of all trades. He loved spending time at his place on Castor River, hunting, fishing, making wine and entertaining friends and family.

To cherish his memory, he leaves four children, Tina (Mark) Pobst of Chaffee, Craig (Heather) Harrell of Raymond, Mississippi, Jill (Brian) Henning of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Bobby (Kay) Harrell, Raymond, Mississippi. He is survived by 15 grandchildren, Jessica (Nick) Swinford of Chaffee, Ryan (Amanda) Pobst of Chaffee, Taylor (Trey) Strobel of Oran, Missouri, Amanda (Wain) Sohn of Mobile, Alabama, Preston (Brooklyn) Harrell of Mobile, Nathan (Kassy) Harrell of Nashville, Tennessee, Mary Grace (John Michael) Sledge of Gluckstadt, Mississippi, Cody (Antoinette) Duniphan of Arvada, Colorado, Macy (Joel Saenz) Duniphan of Hobbs, New Mexico, Charles Henning of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Caleb Henning of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sara Henning of Las Cruces, Hannah Harrell of Raymond, Katie (Josh) Workman of Pearl, Mississippi, and Justin (Chelsea) Roebuck of French Camp, Mississippi. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, with three great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild on the way. A sister, Janet Welter of Kelso, Missouri, also survives along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jess is survived by his selfless and loving partner, Mary Dannenmueller of Chaffee.

He was proceeded in death by a sister and two brothers.

The mother of his children, Arlene Harrell of Chaffee, also survives.

There will be a celebration of life from 5 to 7 p.m. July 17 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
