Jerry F. Wilson, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born May 27, 1938, at Bloomfield, Missouri, to Woodrow and Vergie Marie Cates Wilson. He and Marilyn James were married Oct. 5, 1957, at Bloomfield.
Jerry was a graduate of Morehouse High School. He was an advertising sales representative with the Southeast Missourian from 1968 to 2001. He also worked in real estate sales at Coldwell Banker and currently Century 21. Jerry was a member of First General Baptist Church and was a deacon more than 40 years.
He was devoted to his family and never met a stranger. He loved to work with wood, was a model-car collector and was a big fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Wilson of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Wayne (Jane) Wilson and Dave (Karen) Wilson of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Farrell (Mildred) Wilson of Sikeston, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Dixie and Reda Wilson of Sikeston; six grandchildren, David (Becca), Layne, Hannah, Luke, Levi, Abby Wilson; and a great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James A. and Darrell Wilson.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at First General Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
