Jerry L. Sanders, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Southeast Hospital. He was born Aug. 29, 1948, in Herrin, Ill., to Charles and Irene Baker Sanders. He and Margaret A. Jerry L. Sanders, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born Aug. 29, 1948, in Herrin, Ill., to Charles and Irene Baker Sanders. He and Margaret A. Sanders were married June 23, 1972, in Plumfield, Ill.

Jerry was a 1977 graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran.

Jerry was chief financial officer at Southeast Hospital from 1982 to 2010. He was a member or past member of the following: Cape Rotary, Lynwood Baptist Church, SEMO Hog (Harley Owners Group), Kimbeland Country Club, AICPA Society, Missouri Hospital Association, American Legion and Laventhal & Horwath (Kerber, Eck and Braeckel).

Survivors include his wife, Margaret A. Sanders of Cape Girardeau; a son, Darren (Katie) Sanders of Wentzville, Mo.; a daughter, Aimee (Robert) Wigfall of Carbondale; and five grandchildren, Jayden, Jocelyn, Robert, Jael and Indigo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charles.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Billy Garner officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or to Southeast Hospice.
