Jerry L. Neal, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at his home. He was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Newellton, La., son of Frank and Estelle Fowler Neal. Jerry L. Neal, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at his home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Newellton, La., son of Frank and Estelle Fowler Neal. He and Naomi Ruth Smith were married Oct. 29, 1956, in Hernando, Miss.

Neal was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the army from Oct. 2, 1952, to Sept. 15, 1954. He was employed by Local 23 as a Brick and Stone Mason and was recognized for specialty work in Brick and Stone. Neal was a member of Oran Baptist Church, VFW Post 3838 and the Masonic Lodge in Morley, Mo.

Survivors include his wife of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Tom (Tammy) Neal of Jackson and Larry (Diane) Neal of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Trudi Kay (Steve) Huffman of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Paul and Fred Neal, both of Oran, Mo.; a sister, Eileen Varble of Chaffee, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Lacey, Lance, and Lindsay Neal and Jerod and Jason Schenimann.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Neal.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors by VFW Post 3838 and the Missouri Honor Team.
