William "Jerry" Moore, 78, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Scott City, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, at his home. He was born Dec. 5, 1941, in Paducah, Kentucky, to Elmer Lee and Virginia Carmon Moore.
Jerry was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He loved to volunteer and help others. He was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous, could fix anything, and always had a smile on his face.
He is survived by a son, William Jerry (Laura) Moore Jr. of New Wells; five daughters, Jeannie (Rusty) Underwood of Scott City; Connie Brashear of Flower Mound, Texas; Deanna (Scott) Henderson of Oak Ridge; Jennifer (Johnny) Mosier of Kelso, Missouri; and Cindy (Darren) Berghoff of Gordonville; brother, Dick (Sue) Moore of East Moline, Illinois; four sisters, Sue Young of Beltsville, Maryland; Carolyn McAfee of Middleton, Tennessee; Gloria Schwepker of Freeburg, Illinois; and Margaret Khuene of St. Cloud, Florida; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Zoey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Conner Renee Moore.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chad Bles and A.J. Seyer officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Lightner Cemetery.
