Jerry M. Malone was born Sept. 29, 1932, in Blytheville, Ark., son of Montez Letner and Lawrence Miller Malone. He passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He grew up in Wardell, Mo., and was a graduate of Wardell High School.
Malone served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He was a self-employed carpenter and contractor. Malone lived in Cape Girardeau seven years, having moved from Caruthersville, Mo. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was married to Myrle Lauderman on June 16, 1955, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and to this union were born two sons and three daughters.
He was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Perry Blane and Terri Malone.
He is survived by his wife, Myrle Lauderman Malone of Cape Girardeau; a son, Mitchell Blake (Julie) Malone of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Jerrianne (John) Wyman, Mary Ellen Malone and Adrienne (David) Poe, all of Cape Girardeau; four granddaughters, Erin (Geoff) Brothers, Murielle Estee Wyman, Perri Lauder Poe and Ava Leigh Poe, all of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Carolyn Cunningham of Blue Springs, Mo.; and two nieces.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fellowship Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lewis Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
