Jerry Lee Slinkard, 55, of rural Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, after a stay in St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Randol, son of Eugene and Christine Clark Slinkard. On July 24, 1987, he married Sandy Kemp, who survives of Whitewater.

He worked as a self-employed carpenter at Whitewater, and was a member of Covenant Christian Center in Fruitland.

Other survivors are his parents, Eugene and Christine Slinkard of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Keith Brian of Monteno, Ill., and Vince Brian of Oak Ridge; two stepsons, Keith and Tommy Jacobs, both of Malvern, Ark.; one brother, Tommy Slinkard of Whitewater; three sisters, June Landers of Gardner, Ill., Joyce Myers of Oak Ridge and LaWanda Slinkard of Coal City, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

Funeral service will be held at the chapel Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Terry Culbertson officiating. Burial will be in Chaffee City Cemetery at Chaffee.
