Jerry Dean Kester, 82, of Friedheim passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, at Estates of Perryville.

He was born Sept. 27, 1937, in Friedheim to Albert and Bertha Ahrens Kester.

Jerry was an entrepreneur. He owned and operated heavy equipment; owned and managed several rental properties; did custom combining in the counties of Perry, Cape Girardeau and Bollinger, and helped his dad on the family farm.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. Jerry enjoyed life to the fullest and was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Loving survivors include a son, Jerry Dean (Michelle) Kester Jr., and children, Timothy and Emma B. Kester of Chesterfield, Missouri; nieces, Cynthia (Mike) Mirly and Deborah (Bryan) McCain, both of Jackson; nephew, Rodney (Vickie) Kinder of Benton, Kentucky; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Robert "Bob" Kinder; and nephew, Timothy Kinder.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Roger Steinbrueck officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church.
