Jerry Lee Kasten, 83, son of Ernest Edward and Olga Helena Sperling Kasten, entered heaven Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021.

Jerry was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Cape Girardeau. Jerry married Ruth Grunow Kasten on Nov. 27, 1959, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Evansville, Indiana. They had one son, Jon Mark Kasten of Cape Girardeau.

He was baptized March 31, 1938, and confirmed March 18, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. His confirmation Bible text was II Peter 3:18. He attended Trinity Lutheran School, Cape Girardeau Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University.

He was a life-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on many committees during his lifetime.

Jerry's interests include traveling, restoring old tractors, cars, Boy Scouts and the Civil War. He was a member of Egypt Mills Antique Tractor Club and many Civil War organizations in St. Louis, Cape Girardeau and Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri. Jerry was proud of the 3-inch ordinance cannon and limber he made and fired on many Civil War events. He spent many hours doing re-enactments and promoting Fort D in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Men's 50-year Club.

Before retirement in 1996, he was employed at L.A. Tucker Truck Line, Jerry Lipps and Elfrink trucking companies.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Kasten of Belleville, Illinois; and sisters, Ann Kasten Hickam of Cape Girardeau and Evelyn Kasten Blair of St. Louis.

Survivors include his wife, son, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.

Due to COVID, a private funeral will be held at a later date.
