SIKESTON, Mo. -- Jerry Rodney Jones, 73, of Boomer, W.Va., formerly of Sikeston, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Charleston Area Memorial Hospital in Charleston, W.Va.
He was the son of Carmelita Jones. He and Leatha Landers were married June 24, 1956, at Canalou, Mo.
Jones received a bachelor or arts degree from Southeast Missouri State University, and a master's degree and doctorate in education from the University of Mississippi. He was listed in Education Who's Who of America.
He was director of student teaching 26 years at West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Montgomery, W.Va. He was a member of the Church of God World Wide.
Jones was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Melisa Bishop of Boomer, Cynthia Ramsey of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a son, Jerry Jones II of Goshen, Ind.; a stepbrother, Howard New of Glen Allan, Miss.; a stepsister, Bonnie Carroll of Glen Allan; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A service will be held Sunday at O'Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with Tom Nunnelee officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery, with full military honors provided by Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard.
