Jerry Lee Hailey Sr., 63, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 20, 1947, in Charleston, Mo., to the late Jack and Evelyn Cox Hailey. He and Wilma Lee Lewis were married Dec. 9, 1976, in Charleston.
Hailey was employed by Scott Manor Apartments, and later by Sikeston Public Schools. He also worked with his father in the construction business. He was a former member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church of Sikeston.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jerry Lee Hailey Jr. of Sikeston, Jeffery Scott Hailey Sr. of the home, Mike Hailey of Charleston; two daughters, Carol Christine Hailey of Gentry, Ark., Angel Renee Garner of Sikeston; a brother, Jackie Hailey of Charleston; two sisters, Mary Ann Nelson of Charleston, Evelyn Sue Cates of Edgar Springs, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Stephen Hailey, and a grandson, Zachary Allen Hailey.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ira Sandefer, pastor of Smith Avenue Church of God in Sikeston, officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with full military honors by Missouri Military Honor Guard Unit.
