Jerry H. Whitener, age 57, of Newburgh, IN, died Thursday, November 12, at 5:55 p.m. at Welborn Baptist Hospital, Evansville, IN. Formerly of Tulsa, OK, Little Rock, AR, and Knoxville, TN Mr. Whitener had a forty year career in broadcasting. His career began as a rock and roll disc jockey in Knoxville, TN, and culminated by being a General Manager/Vice President at KLRT/KASN in Little Rock, and most recently at WTVW in Evansville, IN. ...

Jerry H. Whitener, age 57, of Newburgh, IN, died Thursday, November 12, at 5:55 p.m. at Welborn Baptist Hospital, Evansville, IN. Formerly of Tulsa, OK, Little Rock, AR, and Knoxville, TN Mr. Whitener had a forty year career in broadcasting. His career began as a rock and roll disc jockey in Knoxville, TN, and culminated by being a General Manager/Vice President at KLRT/KASN in Little Rock, and most recently at WTVW in Evansville, IN. He was a member of the National Association of Broadcasters and Indiana Broadcasters Association.

Surviving are wife, Sandra (Norton) Whitener; and four children, daughter Tracye McCarthy and son-in-law, John McCarthy; grandsons Calvin Michael and Conner Ryan; son, Scott Whitener and daughter-in-law, Shelly Whitener; daughter, Crystal Duncan; son, John-Norton Samples; parents Wray and Irene Whitener residents of Fountainbleau in Cape Girardeau. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle Edward Whitener and Donald Ray Whitener. Mr. Whitener was a former member of Seymour United Methodist Church, attended Crossroads Christian Church.
