Jerre M. Van Pelt, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Tallapoosa, Mo., to Olvie T. and Ida Marie Littell Story. She and William E. Van Pelt were married Nov. 7, 1968, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away Aug. 12, 2010.

Jerre was a former part-time administrative assistant at Cape LaCroix and Chaffee Nursing Homes. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Allen (Cindy) of Shawnee, Kan., and James William (Nancy) Van Pelt of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Judy (John) Green of Houston; a brother, Tom (Betty) Story of Woodbridge, Va.; seven grandchildren, Chris Van Pelt, Robert William (Megan) Van Pelt, Jessica Jane Van Pelt, Lucas James Van Pelt, Alex Van Pelt, Ben Van Pelt and Emma Van Pelt; and six great-grandchildren, Mallory Van Pelt, Jaxon Robert Van Pelt, Liberti Page Van Pelt, Reese Van Pelt, Calix Jaden Van Pelt and Logan Van Pelt.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Robert Edward Van Pelt; and her parents.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
