Jerome Ponder

Jerome W. Ponder of Bridgeton, Mo., died Monday, March 31, 2008, at National Health Care.

He was born in Cape Girardeau, son of William and Anna Kohlfeld Ponder.

Ponder was a graduate of St. Louis University. He retired as an accountant with the U.S. Treasury Department.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, the former Joan Patricia Carey; two sons, Michael Ponder of Benton, Mo., Paul Ponder of Burfordville; two daughters, Gloria Austin and Bev Lewis of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mildred Olmsted; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Collier's Funeral Home in St. Ann, Mo.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Church in St. Louis. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
