Jerlene B. Mills, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Idalia, Mo., to Eli S. and Mary I. Benton BeCraft. She first married Lester Hobbs Jan. 11, 1936, in Jonesboro, Ill. He preceded her in death April 28, 1944. She then married Charles Mills Sept. 5, 1946, at Bloomfield, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1995...

Jerlene B. Mills, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Idalia, Mo., to Eli S. and Mary I. Benton BeCraft.

She first married Lester Hobbs Jan. 11, 1936, in Jonesboro, Ill. He preceded her in death April 28, 1944. She then married Charles Mills Sept. 5, 1946, at Bloomfield, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1995.

Jerlene was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. She was an LPN and also worked as an office assistant for Dr. R.M. Stevenson 17 years, until his death in 1969.

Survivors include a daughter, Leslie Kaye Johnson and husband Jack of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Scott Welker and wife Linda of Cape Girardeau, Stephen Welker and wife Angela of Swinton, Mo., Dia K. Welker of Cape Girardeau; two great-grandchildren, Sean M. Welker and wife Nicolette of Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dustin S. Welker of Fort Campbell, Ky.; a great-great-grandchild, Christopher S. Welker of Camp Lejeune; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The service will be at noon Wednesday at the mausoleum, with the Rev. Harry Floyd officiating. Entombment will follow.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the charity of one's choice.
