Jennifer Jo Dowdy, 35, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at her home.
She was born Dec. 24, 1969, at Fairfax, Mo., daughter of Dale and Mary Welch Spell. She and Steven Dowdy were married in March 1990 in Cape Girardeau.
Jennifer grew up in Cape Girardeau and was a 1988 graduate of Central High School. She had been a secretary for Welch Construction Co., worked at Monroe Enterprises and Saint Francis Medical Center. She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church and its nurturing committee.
She is survived by a son, Stephen Dakota Dowdy of Cape Girardeau; her parents of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Stacy Jansen, and Chris Hulsey and husband David of St. Louis, Beth Friedrich and husband Scott of Perkins, Mo.; four nephews, Nick Jansen, Adam Hulsey, Will and Kyle Friedrich; four nieces, Carly Jansen, and Ellen, Hanna and Paige Hulsey.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, L.U. and Christine Spell, and maternal grandparents, Donald and Edna Welch.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Jansen, David Hulsey, Scott Friedrich, Nick Jansen and Adam Hulsey.
