JONESBORO, Ill. -- Jenevie Sharknas, 75, of Burton, Mich., died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2000, at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Mich. She was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Jonesboro, daughter of Grover and Lena Lyerly. She and Alby G. Sharknas were married May 14, 1943. He died Nov. 6, 1996...

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Jenevie Sharknas, 75, of Burton, Mich., died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2000, at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Mich.

She was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Jonesboro, daughter of Grover and Lena Lyerly. She and Alby G. Sharknas were married May 14, 1943. He died Nov. 6, 1996.

Sharknas received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southern Illinois University in 1958 and then a master's degree in education from Eastern Michigan University.

She was an educator 43 years, the last 32 as an elementary teacher in Grand Blanc, Mich.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharolyn Heninger of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, David Sharknas of Indianapolis, Ind., Stephen Sharknas of Burton; a sister, Mary Edmonds of Anna; a brother, Ralph Lyerly of Metropolis; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Friday.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Jonesboro Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Harner officiating.
