Jeffrey Dale Green, 62, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at his home in Cape Girardeau.
Jeff was born March 12, 1959, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Jerry Green and Hazel Green Shrull.
He graduated from Sikeston High School in 1977 and in 1982 graduated from Stage One The Hair School. He later received additional training from Redken to become a hair color specialist.
As a self-employed hairdresser for over 30 years, Jeff welcomed clients not only into his chair, but also into his life. His clients would quickly become friends and family, always greeted with his contagious smile, a big hug and a story. He was passionate about his business and built many lasting relationships with the clients he served.
Jeff loved his family and friends fiercely, although it was easy to see that his mother, Hazel, held the largest part of his heart. He enjoyed every moment he spent with her and bragged on her often. As the oldest child, Jeff was a protective and supportive brother. He was always in your corner and always ready to have a good time. In the late '80s, Jeff gained the nickname of "Uncle Bubba," going on to have six nieces, five nephews and several great-nieces/nephews who he adored and loved.
With his friends, Jeff enjoyed traveling, with Key West being one of his favorite destinations. He was the loyal friend who would laugh with you, cry with you, be the first to celebrate with you during the good times and comfort you through the bad.
A great part of Jeff's life was also his best friend and four-legged companion, Lucy. He loved taking her everywhere he went, and she happily followed just a couple steps behind. Lucy will be moving in with family, where she will be spoiled and loved for the rest of her days.
Jeff is survived by his father, Robert Jerry (Alberta) Green of Murray, Kentucky; his mother, Hazel Shrull of Sikeston; five sisters, Robin (David) Hart and Michelle (Mark) Williams, both of Sikeston; Kim Shrull Hampton (Guy Hulen) of Columbia, Missouri; Karen Shrull of Russellville, Kentucky; and Kelly (Tommy) Lomack of Schertz, Texas; two brothers, Robbie (Mary) Davis of Sikeston and Shane Davis of Murray; and his faithful companion, Lucy.
Jeff was preceded in death by his stepfather, Randall Shrull; brother, Doyle Shrull; and brothers-in-law, Bobby Seiler and Chuck Hampton.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. for the family and 10 a.m. for the public Saturday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, 359 Cree Lane, Jackson, MO 63755; (573) 243-9823.
