With sad hearts we announce the death of Navy Airman E-4 Jeffrey Wayne Edmundson.
He was born Dec. 7, 1983, in Cape Girardeau.
He graduated from boot camp in Great Lakes, Ill., last year and was sent from his naval base, Point Mugu, Calif., to the Gulf to help fight the war on terrorism aboard the USS Constellation.
Jeff became ill and was sent to the Navy Medical Center in San Diego, Calif. It was there that he passed away Sunday, July 27, 2003.
Our Jeff was a 2002 graduate of Central High School.
He is survived by his loving father and stepmother, Wayne and Jenifer Edmundson of Cape Girardeau, and his mother and stepfather, Kathy and Randy Loberg of Cape Girardeau. He also had two wonderful sisters, Pam and Cindy Edmundson of Cape Girardeau; a little brother, Rodney Edmundson of Cahokia, Ill.; and a stepbrother, Michael Loberg of Cape Girardeau.
Jeff was the much loved nephew of Diane and Brian Reynolds of Cape Girardeau, Eric and Sonya Norman of Cape Girardeau, Joseph and Valerie Dirnberger of New Hamburg, Mo., James and Karen Hamke of Indianapolis, Ind.; Timothy Tucker of Miami, Fla., Benjamin Tucker of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jill Ceavasco of Wentzville, Mo., Jim Thurman of New Orleans, Bob Thurman of Farmington, Mo., and Joe Thurman of St. Louis.
Loving cousin of Brandon, Amber, Carrissa and Bryce Dirnberger of New Hamburg, Ethan and Connor Norman of Cape Girardeau, Trent and Kirstin Weinzetl-Hamke of Indianapolis, and Cory Reynolds of Cape Girardeau. He was the grandson of William Leonard Tucker of Chaffee, Mo., and Vera Thurman of St. Louis. He was also the loving boyfriend of Andrea Parsons of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the funeral home. A Navy chaplain will officiate at the service, as well as the burial in Cape County Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Dirnberger, Joe Dirnberger, Rick Gadberry, Michael Loberg, Eric Norman and Brian Reynolds.
We will always remember Jeff Edmundson and the courage he showed and the lives he touched.
