Jeanette H. Patterson, 85, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, at Jackson Manor.
She was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Advance to Jeff Lewis and Gertie Delay Lewis Whitledge.
She graduated from Advance High School in 1956.
Jeanette married Hollis Patterson while he was on leave from the U.S. Air Force on April 9,1955, in Sardis, Mississippi.
She started her job for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. in 1957 in California and continued with Fireman’s Fund after moving to O’Fallon, where she retired after 43 years.
Jeanette and Hollis lived in O’Fallon for 45 years before moving to Jackson after retiring. During retirement, Jeanette volunteered at Southeast Hospital for 13 years.
Jeanette and Hollis attended Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home with their miniature schnauzer, Shatzi, and spending time on the lake at their condo. Jeanette also enjoyed shopping, crossword puzzles, spending time with family and friends, as well as helping others.
Survivors include the love of her life and husband, Hollis Patterson; brother, Odis Lewis; three sisters-in-law, Ann Lewis, Dorthy Lewis and Janice Patterson; three stepsisters, Joan Guiling, Joan O’Dell and Judy; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Jeff Lewis; mother, Gertie Delay Lewis Whitledge; stepfather, Ray Whitledge; father-in-law, Clarence E Patterson; mother-in-law, Elsie Cowell Patterson; two brothers, Herbert and Roy Lewis; two brothers-in-law, Larry and James Patterson; and sister-in-law, Patsy Ruth Patterson.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at noon Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Conley officiating. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association and Centenary United Methodist Church.
