Jeanette P. Joyce, 88, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at her home. She was born June 22, 1925, in Parma, Mo., to Walter and Geneva Guess DuBois. She and Robert F. Joyce Sr. were married Dec. 3, 1944, in Mississippi County, Ark. Jeanette and Robert resided in Cape Girardeau, later moving to Jackson in 1982. They were married 57 years when Robert passed away June 9, 2002...

Jeanette P. Joyce, 88, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at her home.

She was born June 22, 1925, in Parma, Mo., to Walter and Geneva Guess DuBois.

She and Robert F. Joyce Sr. were married Dec. 3, 1944, in Mississippi County, Ark. Jeanette and Robert resided in Cape Girardeau, later moving to Jackson in 1982. They were married 57 years when Robert passed away June 9, 2002.

Jeanette was a 1943 graduate of Lilbourn High School in Lilbourn, Mo. She earned her teaching certificate from the former Southeast Missouri Teacher's College -- now Southeast Missouri State University -- and briefly taught elementary school in La Forge, Mo.

Jeanette was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She especially enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include six children, Robert F. (Sharon) Joyce II, Karen Mattingly and Kathy Rodgers, all of Jackson, Rita (Randy) Johnson of Wildwood, Mo., Laura (David) Hulcy of Cape Girardeau, Melissa (Chip) Haring of St. Peters, Mo.; a sister, Doris Stepp of Sikeston; 16 grandchildren, Robert (Terri) Joyce, Scott (Heather) Mattingly, Chris and Brent Mattingly, Jennifer (Scott) Shrum, Bailey Rodgers, Allison, Casey, Suzanne and Laine Johnson, Zane Elizabeth and Gabrielle Hulcy, J.P., Annesley, Ella and Jillian Haring; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Deacon Walter Biri will lead parish prayers at 7:30 p.m., immediately followed with the rosary, led by the ladies of St. Ann Sodality.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson, with the Rev. John Harth and Msgr. William Stanton concelebrating.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
