PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Jeanette A. Brown, 92, of Perryville died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville. She was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Cranes Island, Illinois, daughter of James H. and Mary Elnora Belsha Gibbar. She and Raymond P. Brown were married Feb. 27, 1943. He preceded her in death June 2, 1986...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Jeanette A. Brown, 92, of Perryville died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.

She was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Cranes Island, Illinois, daughter of James H. and Mary Elnora Belsha Gibbar. She and Raymond P. Brown were married Feb. 27, 1943. He preceded her in death June 2, 1986.

Jeanette had been a cook and housekeeper. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality in Sereno, Missouri, and Knights of Columbus Council 1263 Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include four sons, Raymond W. (Joyce) Brown, Larry J. (Dianne) Brown, Wayne J. (Susan) Brown and Donald J. (Ruth) Brown, all of Perryville; one daughter, Sandra (David) Ponder of Houston; 23 grandchildren; and 60 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Jerome, Harold, Paul, Harry and James Gibbar; and two sisters, Rose Bohnert and Jane Franklin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home, with parish wake at 7 p.m.; and from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. She will then be taken to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Milton Ryan and the Rev. Robert Brockland concelebrating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent schools or Masses.
