PATTON, Mo. -- Jeane Smith, 82, of Patton passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, at her home. She was born April 6, 1938, in Hayti, Missouri, daughter of W.C. and Carolyn Dale Kirby. In 1952, he and her family moved to Cape Girardeau, where she attended Cape Central High School. Jeane married Carl J. PATTON, Mo. -- Jeane Smith, 82, of Patton passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, at her home.

She was born April 6, 1938, in Hayti, Missouri, daughter of W.C. and Carolyn Dale Kirby. In 1952, he and her family moved to Cape Girardeau, where she attended Cape Central High School. Jeane married Carl J. "Sonny" Smith on Feb. 25, 1956, and moved to St. Louis, and lived there for five years. In 1962, she and her family moved back to Patton.

She worked at International Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau and the Jackson Hosiery Mill. Jeane and Carl owned and operated Patton Junction Service Station from 1969 to 1994. Jeane also worked for Walmart in Perryville, Missouri, until her retirement in 2014.

Jeane was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and The Lydia Sunday school class. She was active at the Methodist church in Patton.

Survivors include her son, Scott (Cheryl) Smith of Patton; daughter, Michelle (Ed) Liscombe of Brewer, Missouri; grandchildren, Cody (Denise) Smith of Patton, Carly (Edison) Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Natasha Liscombe of Perryville, Missouri; great-grandson, Rhett Scott Smith of Patton; sisters, Wanda Gaulding of Jackson and Pam Bain of Scott City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl "Sonny"; parents; and sisters, Teresa Davidson and Debbie Seifert.

Visitation and funeral were held Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton. The Rev. Elijah Allen officiated. Interment took place in Patton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Crowne Hospice.
