JACKSON -- Jean Latimer, 72, of Jackson died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at her home.
She was born Aug. 1, 1926, in New Madrid County, the daughter of William and Alta Mingle Pardon.
She married Jack Latimer on Nov. 16, 1943.
She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson, past matron of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 91 in Jackson, past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 10495, member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary 2652 in Jackson and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 158 in Jackson.
She worked at the former A&P grocery store and the Cashbook-Journal in Jackson. She also worked in the accounting department of the former Montgomery Ward department store in Cape Girardeau from 1968 to 1973.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Bruch Latimer of Alton, Ill., and Stanley Latimer of Jackson; two daughters, Sheila Garland of Washington, D.C., and Patricia Hill of Jackson; three sisters, Marzell Little, Billie Estes and Vonrey Mattingling, all of Portageville; a brother, Joe Pardon of Bossier City, La.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. O. David Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
