Jean Pauline Grantham, 91, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home, where she resided the past three years.
She was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Jackson, to Paul and Rose Steimel Browning. She and Duell Grantham were married May 19, 1945. They had been married 47 years when he passed away July 3, 1992.
Jean worked at Jackson Hosiery Mill from 1939 until it closed in 1976. She especially enjoyed taking care of her family, even taking care of her sisters, Alice and Catheline, in their later years.
She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, active member of American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson, volunteered at Jackson Senior Center, and at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Her favorite hobbies were bowling and fishing.
Loving survivors include a son, Tom (Donna) Grantham of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Todd (Lisa) Grantham of Birmingham, Mich., and Shelley (Joel) Nierenberg of Montclair, N.J.; two great-grandchildren, and soon expecting the arrival of the third.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Catheline Heisler, Mary McGinness, and Alice Thompson.
Friends may call Friday from 12:30 p.m. to time of service at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Deacon Walt Biri officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
