Jean Mahan Brown, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Tamms and Mounds, Illinois, passed away at 12:46 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at the Southeast Hospital.
Jean was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Cairo, Illinois, daughter of the late George W. Mahan and Mary Lee Hamelback Mahan.
Jean was a member of First Baptist Church in Mounds. She owned and operated Jean’s Beauty Shop in Mounds for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles H. “Sonny” Brown on May 23, 2008; and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte (David) Kyllenon of Perryville, Missouri, and Valerie Kay (Ricky) Davis of Cape Girardeau; a son, Rodney L. (LaDonna) Brown of La Center, Kentucky; grandchildren, Charles J. Guidi, Joe (Stacey) Guidi, Jennifer (Jason) Dabbs, Cody (Michelle) Seigert, Christy Poole and Shannon Waldon; great-grandchildren, Riley Ray Dabbs, Charles Dabbs, Grace Earnest, Ella Rose Guidi, Haylie Guidi, Jaida Seigert and McKenzie Seigert; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home Tamms.
Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Interment will follow in Lindsey Cemetery in rural McClure, Illinois.
