Jaxon Ray Gonzalez, 16 months, of Cape Girardeau earned his angel wings Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 19, 2015, in Cape Girardeau to William Gonzalez and Brittany Nicole Cox.
Jaxon loved Mickey Mouse, his monkey blanket and binky. He fought a long, hard battle and touched so many lives along the way. Jaxon always had a smile on his face and was such a happy little boy. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Survivors include his mother and father; maternal grandparents Melvin and Janet Cox; paternal grandmother Griselda Lara; paternal grandfather Sacramento Gonzalez; and maternal great-grandmother Shirley Waterman, all of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather and a sister, Sophia Faith Gonzalez.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A celebration of Jaxon's life will be at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Ron Seyer officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family c/o Ford and Sons.
