CAIRO, Ill. -- James David DeJarnett, 86, of Cairo died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at the Bertrand Nursing Facility at Bertrand, Mo. He was born Sept. 27, 1913, at Old Cypress, Ky., son of James and Anna Ward DeJarnett. DeJarnett attended the First Southern Baptist Church at Cairo. He was a retired foreman for the Valley Steel Co. and served in the Conservation Corps. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II and was a member of Cairo VFW Post 2649...

CAIRO, Ill. -- James David DeJarnett, 86, of Cairo died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at the Bertrand Nursing Facility at Bertrand, Mo.

He was born Sept. 27, 1913, at Old Cypress, Ky., son of James and Anna Ward DeJarnett.

DeJarnett attended the First Southern Baptist Church at Cairo. He was a retired foreman for the Valley Steel Co. and served in the Conservation Corps. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II and was a member of Cairo VFW Post 2649.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen M. DeJarnett of Cairo; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home at Cairo.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Verlee Eaker will officiate, with burial to follow at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
