Janie Ann Evans, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Bloomfield, Missouri, to Wade Gross and Janie Wilson (Barbara Narcissis Janie McDowell).
She is survived by her sons, Kirby Evans and Andrew Thompson; daughter, Crystal Evans; sister, Wadine Savage; brother, Michael McDowell; six grandchildren, Jason Schaper, Kennith Evans, Jessica Evans, Kristin Thompson, Zoey Kelley and Rowan Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Paris Schaper, Jayla and Jayden Evans and Lydia Evans.
Janie was preceded in death by her daughter, Scarlett Pender-Schaper.
Janie retired from Procter & Gamble after 26 years and spent many years thereafter working on Mackinac Island, Michigan. She spent a number of years as a volunteer care giver and enjoyed her work at the Cairo (Illinois) Grain Company.
Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial service for Janie Ann Evans will be at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Clifton. It will be streamed live on Crain's Facebook page. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Cape County Memorial Park.
