Funeral for Janice Ann Matthews of Cape Girardeau will be held at 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Revs. Barry L. Pfanstiel and William Matzat will officiate.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Meyers Cemetery in Herrick, Ill. The Rev. Tom Davis will officiate.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons today from 4 p.m. until service time. Friends may also call at Wallace and Carroll Funeral Home in Herrick from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Matthews, 60, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Herrick, daughter of Andrew Austland and Mary Nadine McDaniel Thornton. She and Charles Matthews were married Nov. 29, 1958, in St. Louis.
Matthews graduated from the nursing program at Southeast Missouri State University in 1975. She was a nurse 25 years and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jesse Dean Matthews of Jackson, Mo., John Charles Matthews of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Jill Elizabeth Matthews of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Trevor Thornton of O'Fallon, Mo.; two sisters, Lilas Thornton of Willow Creek, Calif., Ida Hines of St. Louis; and a grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
