Janet Tolbert

Jewell Janet Tolbert, 75, of Whitewater died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at her daughter's home.

She was born April 11, 1928, at Whitewater, daughter of Alvin and Ola Crump Bartels. She and William Tolbert were married April 26, 1952. He died April 28, 1991.

Tolbert was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church and the UMW. She was a teacher's aide for many years at Delta Elementary School. She retired in 1991.

Survivors include her mother; Ola Bartels of Whitewater; three daughters; Gail Beck of Chaffee, Mo., Lavonna Berkbuegler of O'Fallon, Mo. and Kellie Brown of Altenburg, Mo.; two brothers, Gene Bartels of Millersville and Glen David Bartels of Whitewater; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and a son.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Zych officiating. Burial will be in Crump Cemetery near Whitewater.
