Janet Marie Burger, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at her home.
She was born Aug. 14, 1940, in St. Louis to Joseph Edwin and Ruth Marie Bradley McDowell. She and Charles D. Burger were married May 10, 1969, at Herculaneum, Mo. He preceded her in death May 27, 2008.
She graduated from Herculaneum High School in 1958.
She came to Cape Girardeau from Festus, Mo., in 1970 when Charles was made manager of the local United Van Lines agency, Cape Transfer and Storage.
She worked for Cape Transfer for seven years and then went to work for Brokers Bonded Warehouse in Cape Girardeau. The warehouse was acquired by Motorcycle Stuff in 1992 and she retired from there in 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Fast of Cape Girardeau and Lance D. Burger of Mount Zion, Ill.; a brother, Robert J. (Shirley) McDowell of Dayton, Ohio; three brothers-in-law, Phil (Audrey) Burger of Perryville, Mo., Ed (Rose) Wetzel of Dellwood, Mo. and Orville Coaley of Hillsboro, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Judy (Floyd) Lee of Festus and Janice Wetzel of Eureka, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.
Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society; American Heart Association; Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, 2536 Boutin Drive, Cape Girardeau; and Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, 359 Cree Lane, Jackson.
