Jane Ellen Poston, 69, of Omaha, Neb., passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Merced, Calif. She was born Jan. 5, 1938, at Lilbourn, Mo., daughter of Joseph and Lola Mae Ward McAllister. She and Norman Poston were united in marriage Aug. 18, 1956...

Jane Ellen Poston, 69, of Omaha, Neb., passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Merced, Calif.

She was born Jan. 5, 1938, at Lilbourn, Mo., daughter of Joseph and Lola Mae Ward McAllister. She and Norman Poston were united in marriage Aug. 18, 1956.

Jane dedicated her life to education, working as a St. Louis teacher, Wright City, Mo., elementary school principal, and Montgomery City, Mo., director of special education. She was of the Baptist belief.

A loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Diane Poston of Fort Mill, S.C., Norman Poston of Dallas, Texas, Alan and Dawn Wetherell Poston of Omaha; a brother, Joe McAllister of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Sharron Taylor of Merced, Ruth Bowerman of Hesperia, Calif., Shirley and Gene Orf of St. Louis; grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle and Connor Poston, Mark and Julie Smith, Mark Wright and Michelle Girdner; and great-grandchildren, Justin, Geoffrey, Courtney, Hannah, Aaron, Amanda, Caroline, Cassidy and Claire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lola Mae; husband, Norman; and brother, Billy.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo. Interment will be in Barks Chapel Cemetery near Crump.

In lieu of flowers, a small donation for maintaining Barks Chapel Cemetery or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is appreciated.
