James William Baylor Sr. , 79, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1999, at Heartland Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Fisk, son of Montie Otto and Mary W. Haynes Baylor. He and Mary Louise Jackson were married April 17, 1976, in Cape Girardeau.
Baylor was a bulk loader at Marquette Cement, where he worked for 43 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of PACE Local 50164. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was a sergeant in the Army's 92nd Signal Battalion during World War II.Survivors include his wife; two sons, James W. Baylor Jr. and Montie Wayne Baylor, both of Cape Girardeau; four stepsons, William Franklin Durham and Robert John Durham, both of Cape Girardeau, Clyde Kimmel of Angola, La., and Thomas C. Kimmel of Oriole; a sister, Marie Moore of Cape Girardeau; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and two sisters.
Friends may call today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Donny Ford will officiate, with burial at Lorimier Cemetery. Military services by VFW Post 3838 will be held at the ceremony.
