PERRYVILLE, Mo. — James "Jim" Edward Wibbenmeyer, 74, of Perryville passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born March 16, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Cletus and Lorena Richardet Wibbenmeyer.
Jim and Faye Marie Gibbar were married April 18, 1970.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a building inspector for the City of Perryville for 27 years.
Jim was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a third-degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 133.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry and helping others. He was a true servant and gladly shared his skills and talents with anyone who needed help. He was always happy when he could share his knowledge by teaching others. Most of all, he lived for his grandchildren. Jim delighted in watching them grow up and being present in every stage and moment with them. He was grateful for the time he shared with his family.
Survivors include a son, Neil (Brandy) Wibbenmeyer of Jackson; daughter, Lisa (Erin) Carroll of Perryville; brother, Doug Wibbenmeyer of Perryville; two sisters, Glenda (Robert) Begeske of Chicago and Marsha Lintner of Perryville; and six grandchildren, Lucas Carroll, Nathan Carroll, Corin Carroll, Taylor Quade, Parker Quade and Tessa Quade.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Wibbenmeyer; sister, Karen Wibbenmeyer; and father- and mother-in-law, Vincent "Pete" and Verna Gibbar.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville. Visitation will continue from 8 to 9:30 a.m., with rosary at 8:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 18, at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Ben Melaku, C.M., officiating. Inurnment will be at Mary Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Kidney Foundation or Regional Family Crisis Center.
