ZALMA, Mo. -- James Walter Westbrook, 75, of Zalma passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 14, 1939, in Advance, Missouri, son of Walter and Lucille Bass Westbrook.
James retired as a sergeant first class with the U.S. Army. He served 20 years in the military, including three tours in Vietnam. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Army Commendation Medal.
Survivors include a daughter, Michele (Kevin) Holtzhouser of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Kenneth (Mary Gayle) Westbrook of Advance; two grandchildren, Taylor and Emily Sechrest; a niece, Jennifer (Matt) Welch; and two nephews, Jeremy (Stephanie) Westbrook and Jason (Susan) Westbrook.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
The funeral will be at noon Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Willer officiating. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
