BELL CITY -- James Warfield, 88, of Chicago and formerly of Bell City died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, in Chicago.
He was born Feb. 11, 1911, in Natchez, Miss., son of Emma Harris and Walter Warfield.
He attended school in Bell City and later moved to Chicago where he worked for Walgreen's until his retirement. He was a veteran, serving in World War II from 1940 to 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine, of Chicago; a son, Clemmon Warfield of Chicago; two brothers, Karl Warfield of Chicago and Rufus Warfield of St. Louis; three sisters, Helen Banks of Chicago, Emma Warfield Smith of New Orleans, La., and Reatha Standberry of Sikeston; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepmother.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at Power House of God Church in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at noon at the church, with the Rev. Betty Ware officiating. Burial will be in Warfield Cemetery near Oran.
Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
