CHARLESTON -- James Wally McElroy, 91, of Charleston Manor, formerly of Bertrand, died Thursday at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born Aug. 28, 1900 in St. Joe, Ark. He was employed in landscaping until retiring in 1955. Survivors include five sons, Charles McElroy of Deer Lodge, Mont., Chester McElroy of Stockton, Calif., Vernice McElroy of Ponca City, Okla., Johnny McElroy of Scott City, and Cleo McElroy of Sikeston; five daughters, Mary McElroy of Ponca City, Margaret Privett of Fenton, Sharon Brown of Delta, Shirley James of Sikeston and Sheila Baker of Diehlstadt; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.. ...

Service was conducted Saturday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, with the Rev. Danny Tackett, pastor of Church of God of Prophecy in Bertrand, officiating. Burial was in Maynard Cemetery near Diehlstadt.
