JACKSON - James Thomas Hope, 87, of Pocahontas died, at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 1991 at Deal Nursing Home in Jackson.
He was born Aug. 25, 1903, at Pocahontas, the son of James and Bertha Thompson Hope. In 1924 he married Mildred Stewart, who died on Jan. 22, 1965.
He was a farmer all his life in Pocahontas and was a member of the Apple Creek Presbyterian Church in Pocahontas. He served on the Pocahontas school board, was an officer of the Apple Creek Memorial Association, and a member of the Cape Girardeau County Democratic Central Committee.
Survivors include a son, Harold Hope, of Jackson; two brothers, Robert Hope of Pocahontas, and Paul Hope of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Avia Minor, of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Susan Bennett, of High Ridge, and Linda Brown, of Jackson; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded n death by a brother, Cline, and a sister, Hazel.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. William Bernauer, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, officiating. Burial will be in Apple Creek Cemetery at Pocahontas.
