Funeral Mass for James Statler of Austin, Texas, was held Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin. Burial was in Cook-Walden/Capital Parks.
Statler, 44, died Thursday, July 3, 1997, in an Austin hospital.
He was born Nov. 6, 1952, in St. Charles, son of Don and Inez Statler. He and Juanita Rocha were married in March 1972.
Statler was employed by Delta Airlines 26 years and was also a private airplane pilot.
He was a member of St. Louis Church, served as school board president, was a Boy Scout leader and received the Eagle rank. He had lived in Austin since 1982.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Amy Statler; a son, Aaron Statler, both of Austin; his parents of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Donna Jackson of St. Louis; two brothers, Randy Statler of Austin, and Duane Statler of Cape Girardeau.
