THEBES, Ill. -- Funeral service for James Robert Snell, Thebes Route 1, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Revs. Donnie Ford and Bill Whitener will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Snell, 67, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Gale, son of Robert B. and Lovah Phillips Snell. He and Magdalene Warnaka were married Nov. 30, 1948, in Piggott, Ark.

He was a signalman with Missouri Pacific Railroad four years, worked at Riverside Lumber Co., and was a carpenter 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Local 1770 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nancy Wilson and Mary Nelson of East Cape Girardeau, Beverly Wilson of McClure; his parents of Gale; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
