EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- James Earvin Shands, 81, of East Prairie died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo. He was born Sept. 24, 1923, in Medina, Tenn., son of Huhie and Tina Elizabeth Todd Shands. He and Norah Pauline Parmer were married Oct. 9, 1943...

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- James Earvin Shands, 81, of East Prairie died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Sept. 24, 1923, in Medina, Tenn., son of Huhie and Tina Elizabeth Todd Shands. He and Norah Pauline Parmer were married Oct. 9, 1943.

Shands was a retired farmer and timber cutter. He was a member of Barnes Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Charles Shands of Charleston, Mo., Eddie and Jimmie Shands of East Prairie, Johnnie Shands of Oran, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and two brothers.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Raymond Grimes will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
