FISK, Mo. -- James Thomas Rushing, 76, of Fisk died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1932. He and Ona Brewer were married June 6, 1953. FISK, Mo. -- James Thomas Rushing, 76, of Fisk died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 22, 1932. He and Ona Brewer were married June 6, 1953.

For several years he was a deputy sheriff, marshal and judge for the city of Fisk. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and a life member of VFW in Puxico, Mo., and DAV Chapter 47 at Dexter, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Ronnie (Teresa), Michael (Tammy) Rushing, of Fisk, Patricia Kopp of St. Louis, Janice Rushing of Poplar Bluff, Timothy (Renee) of Scott City; five grandchildren, James, Joshua, Jessica, Ryan and Aaron; two stepgrandchildren, Lisa and Danny; and a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Darrell; his mother, Annie Childress; and a brother, Bobby.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Howard and Maxine Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery at Broseley, Mo., with full military honors to be provided.
