James R. Rowland, 73, of Jackson, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020, at his home.
He was born April 9, 1947, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to Reese and Leola Glenn Rowland. He and Sherry Daffron were married May 14, 1966, in Bonne Terre.
Jim was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He and Sherry established Muffler Express and Automotive Repair in Cape Girardeau in 1976, and they continue to run the business.
Loving survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sherry Rowland; children, Todd (Dana) Rowland and Tonya (Rodney) Landewee; grandchildren, Gage and Baylee Rowland and Mason Landewee, all of Jackson; a brother, Jerry (Dorothy) Rowland of Bonne Terre; brothers-in-law, Charles Scoggin of Park Hills, Missouri, and Tom (Bonnie) Daffron of Omaha, Arkansas; and sisters-in-law, Arlene (Don) Crouch of Carthage, Missouri, and Cathra (Bill) Dickerson of Desloge, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Margo (Don) Jones, Nancy Scoggin and Sam Rowland.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
To celebrate Jim's life, the family encourages friends to share special memories during the service, which will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Military honors will follow.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Cape County Cowboy Church or the American Heart Association.
