CHARLESTON, Mo. -- James Lee Roach, 77, of Bloomington, Ind., died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Richland Beanblossom Nursing Center in Ellettsville, Ind.

He was born June 25, 1925, at Charleston, son of James O. and Fannie Holder Roach. He and Leola McMikle were married Aug. 20, 1949.

Roach began his 43-year employment with AT&T in operations management in Massillon, Ohio. He later moved to Indianapolis, Ind., where he retired in 1986 as regional supervisor. He was a member of South Port Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Roach of Bloomington, Bruce Roach of Indianapolis; a brother, Herbert Roach of Bonita Springs, Fla.; four sisters, Mary Stauffer of Sikeston, Mo., Dorothy Crader of Germantown, Tenn., Beulah Fowler of Lubbock, Texas, Joan Robinette of Union City, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 11 a.m. Saturday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Gerald Penn will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
