CHARLESTON -- James Marshall Reeves, 82, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 5, 1917, in Charleston, son of Oda A. and Ora Mae Scott Reeves.
Reeves was a graduate of the University of Missouri and a member of its track team.
A resident of Charleston most of his life, he was retired from farming and was a member of First Baptist Church. Reeves served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, James Reeves of Wickliffe, Ky., Robert Reeves of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; two brothers, Joseph "Tud" and Byron "Barney" Reeves of Charleston; three sisters, Donna Morgan and Mildred Burnett of Charleston, Frances Goldis of Bertrand; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, parents, stepmother, two brothers, and a grandson.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
