SIKESTON -- James Robert Maxwell, 76, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Mt. Auburn, Ill., son of Evert and Letha Cummins Maxwell. He and Elizabeth June Nidey were married Aug. 7, 1954, in Robinson, Ill.
Maxwell had managed P.N. Hirsch stores in Collinsville, Ill., Dexter and Sikeston. He moved to the Sikeston area in 1966. He worked in advertising at the Sikeston Daily Standard, and had been custodian at Media Press and Hardee's. He was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Bates of Bernie, Susan Chaka and Cinda Grafton of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dale McFarland officiating.
