MOUNDS, Ill. -- James R. Cobbs, 88, of Mounds, Ill. died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 9, 1904, in Russellville, Ken., the son of Luther and Mary Page Cobbs.
He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church near Villa Ridge, Ill., where he served as a trustee for many years. He was a retired machinist for Illinois Central, where he worked for 50 years. He also was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Survivors include his wife Ruth Cobbs of the home; two daughters, Effie Bagbey and Brenda Cobbs, both of Mounds; a son, James A. Cobbs of Mounds; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudis Gunn, in 1975 and by an infant daughter in 1927.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Baptist Church, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8:30 p.m. today, or until 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home in Mounds, and after noon Tuesday at the church.
